St Michael & St John’s RC Primary School – Newsletter – 17.11.20

Nīlgiri Following the example of Jesus, together we learn, love and respect one another to be the best we can be.

Dear Parishioners

At SSMJ, we have a number of Pupil Leadership groups who, throughout the year, work hard to help others and to raise money for charities.

At this time of year, as we approach Advent, we would normally be out raising money and spreading some Christmas joy for example by singing in the community, at supermarkets, at Clitheroe Hospital and at High Brake House.  However, as you know, we cannot do that this year.  So, we are helping in other ways and would like to offer our parishioners the opportunity to support these good causes with us if you can.

North Salt Lake The Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal

Our Laudato Si group in school would like to support The Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal. If you would like to support this, please can you bring to the school office a brand new toy, which we will deliver to The Salvation Army. A box is available in the entrance. We feel that this a worthwhile cause to support at this time of year and particularly this year, with the pandemic. We need your donations by 4th December please.

If you would like some ideas, The Salvation Army have put together a wish list on Amazon. Please use the links below.

School Council Plea

The Student Council are helping people in Africa cope with Covid 19.

They are pleading for donations of:

Face masks, hand soap, hand sanitizer and gloves.

If you would like to help, a box for your donation, is available in the school office.  We need your donation before Friday 27th November please because the School Council will be sending these off to Africa at the beginning of December.

Thank you in advance.

GIFT Team (Growing in Faith Together Team, formerly Pupil Chaplains)

During Advent, as we are unable to go out into the community, our children will be making Christmas cards and school will be delivering these to members of our community. If you would like to suggest a person who would like to receive a card, please e mail me their details (with their permission) to  head@ssmj.lancs.sch.uk.

We will also be recording out GIFT Team who will perform one of their choreographed prayers and this will be live on our school website during December for you to watch and enjoy and to help us all remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Thank you, stay safe and God Bless.
